And there's me thinking I could maybe get my hands on some reputable collecting information. :(

and sadly a number of German dealers seem to not be able to spot the fakes either or are they so much interested in making the mighty Dollar/Euro ?

I'm certain the one who sold this one to me is legit, he even gave me his card . But yes, others seem to pretend they "didn't know".

This time I invested in a classic, at least this model will keep fakers away for a while.

This is an original 1909s Colonial Medal for French troops which served in Morocco . This medal was only awarded 63200 times , mainly for the Rif campaigns in the 1920s.
They should . They should be part of a WWII collection if you are interested in anything which has to do with North Africa, Cassablanca, Torch etc, because many superior officers in Morocco in 1942 were Riff veterans and proudly wore this medal

to be noticed the back is similar of the Cicily ocupation award (French occuppation zone of the former Ottoman Empire after the Treaty of Versailles).

It's more finding them than a matter of price. Many collectors do'nt even know this one existed, so there isn't too much demand. I'm still looking for the Cicily one and also the one that was awarded at the Dardanelles. Both are unknown medals as well.

It was cast by a famous engraver called Lemaire who is also the author of the 1870 Commeorative medal. Details are stunning. If you save the reverse on your computer and enlage it, you will be able to read the name of the campaigns inside the flag

This one came in a while ago, but needed some cleaning first. This is an unwinder (Spuler) for a Feldfunksprecher unit.
I traded it with a friend who wnated trench art.

the link below shows a few of those Spulers attached to a KFZ 61 truck

A great addition to your collection, Skip. I remember last year, watching two French guys pulling one of those reels from the river Dives in Normandy.

Thanks guys, I've always wanted one of these . I'll add some wire soon to make it even more realistic, but I want to remove some of the bumps first. It rolls fine but Idon't want to ruin it by going to fast. I wonder whether someone has the large model that is carried like a rucksack . That could well be another of my future purchases.

An Ahnenpass from a Cologne familly with origins in Magdebeburg and Leipzig.
The Ahnenpass was a genealogy proof of Ayran ancestry needed by families who wanted to join political, military or administrative positions during the 3rd Reich . Applicants needed to show evidence they has at least three generations of Ayran ancestry.

    Some nice card and photos:

A photo from the 97. Swords recipient Wilhelm Wegener, KIA 1944 in Kurland.
And a signed and handwritten fieldpostcard to another KC recipient Ulrich Ulms,
signed and written by Wegener with a hand drawing of the Kessel of Demjansk.
Cartoon which says, "Demjansk, net with 192.000 eggs in it.
    Happy Easter!"

A photo of the 35o_Oakleaves winner Siegfried Henrici,
signed and dated on the reverse side by him.

I bought these and once again have no idea just what I have. Marchand Fabf Paris binocular, DAY & Night, U.S. Signal Service. The only other lettering is Made in France. I've searched the 'net' but it is lacking in info' so thought it best to ask the folks around here for identification. Any one recognize these?
