A few more items of crockery that I picked up at Sundays militaria show...

A DAF (Deutsche Arbeitsfront or German Labour Front) plate made by Lorenz
    Hutschenreuther of Selb, Germany.

This is an oddity? The bowl has a 1939 date on its base and is again made
by Lorenz Hutschenreuther of Selb, but the inside of the bowl has a state
    eagle and the year 1942?

Nothing odd John, this happened quit eoften. I have several with a double date and even a RAD one one on a recycycled Luftwaffe marking with marking blackened , The plate is probably a recylced 1939 order, used in 1942 with existing stocks. (wartime issue)

You got yourself great items as well! Thanx for the comment, appreciate it, I am happy to have some special friends who know I won´t sell these away and they end in a "good home". :)

We, as collectors understand each other Kai. There are some things I won't sell no matter what. It's not even a matter of value, it's a more sentimental. Some items I cherish are not valued by others . There is nothing to understand, it's just the way it is. It's the difference between collectors and businessmen

Very true words from both of you, Skipper and Kai. I don't buy any of my militaria to re-sell at a profit, I would never part with any of it.

Even the battlefield relics that I have found will never be sold. The personal items in particular hold something special with me as they were once a possession of some Tommy, GI or soldat.

This little fellow arrived in the mail from Holland today. It is a billingual 3rd Reich Arbeitsbuch from the Protektorat of Bohemia and moravia (Böhmen u. Mähren = Cechy a Morava ) .

It has entires for a young musician from the Prague Rundfunk (radio) Orchestra starting in 1941 and going trhough to the end of the war ...and beyond! Note the markings done by a German called Richter up to August 1945 when he was replaced by a Czech and the same arbeits buch was still used in 1945, 1946 and even 1947.

The Tschechischer Rundfunk markings were simply replaced by the Czech equivalent of Ceskoslovensko Rozhlas , but it's still the same radio in Prague with the same man called Hotek Jaraslav. He was 16 when this Arbeitsbuch was opended for him . It's most interesting becaus eit's the first billingual book I have an one used behind the iron curtain up to 2 years after the war ended.

note the address on the cancelation stamp with "AdolfHitlerstrasse" on it (almost every town in Germany had one street named like that)

Another German shell today! This one comes from an attic near les Andelys, Normandy. It's a great 1942 shell and the first m-42 I have with a tricolor decal (Ialways thought they were hardly used on the M-42 because late introduction and the 1943 instructions which told to remove them .

This place was the theatre of "Operation Neptune" when the British crossed the Seine in August 1944 under heave German fire.

Another great Thale produced shell to add to your collection, Skip!

I agree that it is unusual (but not unheard of) to see decals on later model shells.

Thanks John, I closely watched what is left of the decal and it looks good to me. I'm surprised there is no left over on the other side.
