Redarmy and normal Russian population deaths in ww2 calculated up too 23 Million perished (not 28 million which was stated before)
    Check wilki!

But i had this thought! Japanese have been in ww2 since 1936 till 1945,there deaths could be more than Russia! I don't know, cause i have not check up on it.
Just stating some ideas and thoughts.

Quite a wide variety of numbers have been published. Which are the most accurate are difficult to tell as there are different basis for some of them so that some widely varying ones may be equally "good" or "bad". Wiki is hardly the last word in anything however but that especially holds true of controversial subjects which this is.

When to start counting the Chinese deaths is also a problem as there are several defendable dates.

Heidi, this site from CUNY (New York's John Jay University) is better than Wiki, but even it uses "rounded off" numbers for easy reading. And while the totals will probably continue to increase as more and more records are declassified, and more and more hidden mass graves (they still show up from time to time) come to light.

    WWII: The Casualties

It does make for realitively easy comparison research however. The length of time the Japanese fought will have more of a bearing on the deaths of their enemies than themselves. Their warrior tradtion required that all bodies be cremated and the ashes returned to Japan for proper internment and respects. I know this rite was not ALWAYS done, but even the missing were totalled in their own statistics as often as possible. If for no other reason than so the commanders could calculate replacement needs.
