Hi Ray, ill be looking worward to your finds. Also, one other request is if you can find some good shots with Audie Murphy as well ;-)) I just picked up a copy of one fo his Westerns called: No Name On the Bullet, but I have not seen it yet.
Cheers Ray, Pierre, Ulrich, Ray, great show on the Winchester 73 and High noon pics. Winchester 73: 1) Im not sure what Western this pic is from. Its hard to say because Walter Brennan and Jay C. Flippen both made jillions of movies ;-)) What I do know is that James Stewart is wearing his favorite Cowboy hat in it which is the same he wore in several westerns including Winchester 73 and Bend of the River. 2) Great shot of Dan Duryea as (Waco Johnny Dean) trying to weedle that 1-of-a-thousand-rifle from Charles Drake. 3) Doesnt look like Winchester 73 and I KNOW it aint Bend of the River ;-)) 4) Great Campfire scene in Winchester 73. L-to-R Millard Mitchell, James Stewart, Jay C. Flippen (Yank Infantry Sergeant) and Charles Drake. 5) Simply a fantastic studio pic of Stewart as Linn McAdams. The rest: All great shots of Coop in High Noon. Believe it or not? I hated this movie first time out, 2nd time onwards, I loved it. Cheers Pierre, heres a tidbit for you. In Winchester 73, they did use period rifles. James Stewart wanted it that was for more realism. One of the Winchesters used was one owned by Stewart himself, along with teh pistol he carried. Duke also liked uising his own guns in Westerns instead of movie props. Ulrich, there is a whole town I think in Czecholslovakia, which is built and is puirposely made to look like a Wild West town. I cant remember the name of the place but the folks who live there also put on Western Shows several times a year.
Hi Pierre, Ray, Pierre, im VERY humbled at your Western Guns, Gear, Autographs and photos collection. Many of your favorites are mine as well. I recognized many of the pics you pisted coming from classics like: Vera Cruz, The Professionals, The Wild Bunch-to name just a few. I too have a great shot of Steve McQueen (another all-time favorite of mine, I might add) which is of him in: Wanted Dead Or ALive. Mine is an original Press Photo which also still has its news ticker on it. If you ask Ray nice enough, he might repost my McQueen pics here. They are already in the War Movies Stills from all periods thread, but, I have the one pic of McQueen from his TV show-great shot of him, and a few more of him in: Hell Is For Heroes. BTW, the JWMB site owner (Kevin) is also a big Steve McQueen fan and the John Wayne website he created, coulad have just as easily had been one on Steve McQueen. He said it was a choice of tossing a coin and deciding on who the site would be depending on whether heads or tails. Well, the choices were: John Wayne and Steve McQueen--John Wayne won the coin toss and he rest is history ;-)) I used to have a collection of well over 500 Westerns. Most of them were non Duke Westerns though I did have about 50 or so of them at the time, and most of mine had folks like: Johnny Mack Brown, Wild Bill Elliott (one of my more favorite of these) Charles Starrette, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Lash LaRue, and several others. Well, sadly, I no longer have most of those because I got a case of: The Stupids, and gave away most of them several years ago because I got tired of lugging around about 800 VHS tapes. Today, I have maybe about 200 tapes left. Im not getting rid of these untill I cvan get them all transferred to DvD.

me neither gordon.. the plot: The general plot is based on a true story that the author, Ernest Gann related in his 1961 autobiographical book about his flying career, "Fate is the Hunter". He and other pilots searched successfully for a lost fellow pilot in the wilds of northern Canada during World War II.

Cheers Lou, Ray, Gordon, Lou thanks for the heads up on a Duke Day @ TCM, I think they also are having an Errol Flynn or a Basil Rathbone day there this month too. TCM, seems to be honoring Flynn by showing a few of the movies that are in his newest box set which im getting this month. Ive waied too long for some of these movies to be released and I GOTTA seem them hot off the presses ;-)) Ray, great shot of Duke w/ Eduard Faulkner in: :-D The Green Berets :-D I first saw this movie played on a late Fri or Sat night when I was about 6 yrs old. It was the first time I ever got to stay up past bedtime to watch TV. I loved the thematic music (by Barry Sadler BTW) since the first time I ever heard it played-which was when they played Dukes movie ;-)) Gordon, if you want a copy of Island In the Sky? I might be able to get one for you no probs-but I want to send those 12 other discs first.
