I might watch it, but I think I'll pass, since I don't want to get up super early to watch it. I'll stick with the highlights later on in the day.
nope ...workin .. I'm a bit miffed too that because of the Easter break and the additional bank holidayfor the wedding you 9-5ers get 11 days off (yep, count em' ..11!!) for only 3 days leave taken, whereas us shift workers have to work through the lot ..! .. 3/4 of the country taking 11 days off in the current climate is just plain wrong...
My only complaint is that if I want to watch it? it doesnt play in my area till 3 am. At that time, im normally at least preparing to go to bed if not in bed already-cept for these past few weeks though. Anyway, I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when Diana and "that guy she married" got married. I was a student at an Episcopal Day School, and it was mandatory that we all gather in the library and watch it. It didnt matter to me because, it kept us out of class for about 4 hours ANNNNND, we got to go home 2 hours early ;-)) Anyway, at the time, what I watched I thought was cool, and I dont mind hearing the two Prince's gittin' hitched. My best wishes to them-or to Gordon if he lands the babe. Gordon mate, if you do? Princess Madeleine od Sweden and I will do a double wedding with you two ;-)) No, waitaminnit!!!! that was the time when we watched Pope John Paul--become the Pope ;-)) I do remember we were also forced to watch the wedding too, but I cant remember what grade I was in at that time?
I didn't want to watch either of my marriages any more than I would want to watch someone put their hand in a food processor so why on earth would I want to watch someone make the same mistake I did?
No. Won't watch it. However, if the Prince is interested in one mother of a blow out bachelor party, I would love to have that party here in Houston. I know some places, great places to take the Prince. It would be a really fun time.
They' d be both be welcome at my parties too, I'm sure they have a better time and wouldn't have to listen to George Michael and Elton John for the Protocole.
Remember watching last big royal wedding. Was at home sick from school. Impressed by the pomp and ceremony. But I was also wasted on cough syrup. Could have been watching the Westminster dog show,...And poor Kate, with all her dieting and stress. yawn...It has captured the hearts of a lot of Canadians here though. Hopefully their union will be more successful.
Throw in The Greatful Dead too, and ya got a deal ) Oh and, I dont just have an ordinarly Bier Garden, MINE is the worlds ONLY Rootbier Garden ;-))
I heard of a few while I lived there but never got a chance to visit a bottomless place--dang it.
For those of us who are married, or have a committed relationship, think of it this way. It's the best kind of wedding to observe. When you get bored, you can just change the channel. I wish I could have done that at the many weddings I've had to attend.
Just out of curiosity do any of our UK members have any idea what this gala event is going to cost? I understand that your nation is also in a bit of a "pickle" over the financial area, wouldn't the money be better spent in other ways? I know, tradition and all that, but still......
Are the soldiers with the tall fuzzy hats and redcoats going to march? I might consider watching those guys, but weddings are sort of boring.
Nope. Considering the fact that the wedding will be televised very early in the morning in my country, I think my time will be better spent in the sack. Since its inevitably going to be repeated throughout the day, I'll occupy myself with some reading or a DVD marathon.
These are the best I could find, Clint- "The Met is struggling to meet the cost of security for the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton because thousands of officers will earn double time for working on a bank holiday. It's estimated the event will now cost as much as £20m, which dwarfs the £7.4m price of security at the G20 protests in London in 2009. As a more direct comparison, the 1981 wedding between Prince Charles and Diana Spencer was estimated to have cost £4m - which equates to around £12m today." Royal wedding cost rises to £20m as police earn double time for working bank holiday | Mail Online But on the other hand.... "The Queen and the Prince of Wales, it is understood, are willing to contribute to the cost of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, which some believe could exceed £50 million.
