    C.Evans,

How could you forget our three most famous "Kings"?
"The King of Rock and Roll", "The King of Pop", and "The Sultan of swat" aka "The Home Run King"
Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and George Herman Ruth, Jr.(better known as "Babe" Ruth)

Just watching all the pomp for the Queen's diamond jubilee. Whilst I would be the last to ever wish her any harm I can honestly say that I'm overwhelmed with utter indifference to the whole affair.

As for the Royal wedding last year.

My grandson and myself, having a day off, decided to go fishing.

We tried several lakes and all of them were full. It seems that the entire male population of the UK had gone out fishing.

We eventually found a lake in a small village only to find that a street party was taking place and they had loud speakers everywhere.

We could hear all the "I doo's" loud and clear.

    When Kate said "I do" the chap across the lake from me uttered the words;

"That's another one we've got to pay for"

    Didn't catch anything either.

Each to their own I suppose...It is rather hyped up by the media...I understand the business links...shops tourism etc...need the money...But if we are to believe the media here we all were overjoyed and out celebrating...It just was not the case...I did attend a garden party last week...Rude to decline the invite....and I did attend a beacon last night...we let the locals light one on our hill...and had a hog roast...Watched em light up on hills around...a good night out...but the queen was not really involved...Then went to Dovers Hill and saw the best beacon...lit by someone...proper thing...and then they had walked away....very quiet...very sublime...no singing or crowds...quiet...only ones there...and watched the hills around as beacons went out...

Excuse for getting out for most really...dare I say it the 3g brigade...grannies, gays and girlies...Sorry if insults anyone but they are not my words...its a known thing for these occasions here...same faces...The olympic torch gets more folk on streets it seems...and next football will see far more flags on cars than seen out of London area for Jubllee. Take nothing away from the lady...but not everyone is a royalist and not everyone is x factor generation indoctrinated...I don't fish, but know your feelings well...God save the country...the queen can look after herself.

Disability Living Allowance...A none means tested sum for mobillity and care package based on a persons needs not illness or disabillity. Being replaced by Personal Independance payment. To get rid of half a million of the claimants.

Not political. Just an answer to the question.

There was a problem whereby Ian Smith whom Wilts mentioned was stating that even ex vetrans should not get it because their new legs and arms help them out and make them better..or words to that effect...he was slapped down when the press and British Legion pursued him. Cameron now states vets willl be exempt...but the firms that assess are not medical folk..but coroporate folk from security guard forces or even Hewlet Packard etc. So Wilts may be looked at in his wheelchair...and some spotty 21 kid with no information or experience will tell him he is no longer disabled....A bit like Jesus but without the miracle bit.

Y'all's system over there does not sound like a sound one. Sorry to hear that there are problems with it. Our VA here, even though it could use a bit of tweaking takes care of the veterans quite well.

The vetrans side is getting better...Although current vetrans of the Iraq and Afghan actions are better looked after than any before them...But thats just normal I suppose. I had to fight long and hard to get my war pension upgraded and almost gave up. After 20 years the MOD gave in and I now receive a 100 percent disability pension....The fight gave me a bitter taste in the mouth though. And I know others have the same problem. It leaves you feeling the agencies like British Legion and RAFA, etc are nothing but drinking clubs. Lost all respect for our vetrans charities I know many others through they years have too. When the chips are down you are on your own...the fight is yours and vetrans agencies offer noting but negative words. If we left it to them no one would get a pension.

Right now my Mom is struggling to see how much of my Dad's benefits she will retain since his death. She faces a 33% reduction in social security now, but will retain 100% of the state police benefits. The question now is what the VA will continue to pay. That is such a large bureaucracy in itself that she is getting contradictory letters from the same office regarding benefits, which is quite upsetting to her. From what information she gets runs from termination of benefits to keeping nearly 100% of them. That's the problem we are dealing with now. So I can understand what you are going through now.
