saving private ryan is a worst ww2 movie.
i dont want to talk about hollywood propaganda, coz i got used it in almost all american war movies.

i have noticed few things, an american jew soldier is saying to german soldiers that i am a jew?
so what means that for german soldiers? did they know jew genocide? they heard? or they did?
    totally bullshit scene.

And almost all german soldiers are bald.
Maybe director thought that all germans skinhead?

These things are maybe just details
    But for me important things.

I don't see why everyone hates "propaganda" movies. I have now an entire 11 hours of DVDs of just allied propaganda and I like it. I know, the propaganda in SPR is disguised in a movie, and maybe it's the wrong place for a little bragging, but hey- that's America for you.

Windtalkers was a bit over the top - something to remember is that there were a number of Native American languages used, not just Navajo. While they (the Native American communicators) deserve much praise and credit, I think that in most situations in the Pacific there is little the Japanese could have done that would have changed the outcome if they (the Japanese) had intercepted the transmissions.

If the enemy is in range, SO ARE YOU. Murphey's 20th law of combat.

The worst World War 2 movie ever made? U-571 and Pearl Harbor (although I can tolerate U-571 better than Pearl Harbor).

Anzio - definitely one of the worst!
The Big Red One - annoying!
Memphis Belle - I got fed up with all the arguing and turned it off.
The Thin Red Line - I didn't get past the first 10 minutes.
Battle of the Bulge - but I did enjoy the German singing.

There is a new film coming out soon called jACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL. From seeing the trailer i think it could give Battle of the bulge a run for its money as the worst war movie ever made.

There were some really cheesy war movies made in the 50's and 60's, but I agree with you, this was by far the worst. Some of the early ones had some charm. This one has so little to recommend it. I hated it from start to finish. Bad acting, historical inaccuracies, bad props. It was painful to sit through, and I'll never repeat it.

I really like propaganda movies if recorded really just for propaganda.
For example nazi cinemas and their propaganda movies. I can understand that kind of movies coz intention is clearly open, just making propaganda for effecting to people.
We all know that so many years passed after ww2 but still some directors making propaganda in ww2 movies.
They must be careful while giving message about their movies. Coz Everybody knows that what happend in ww2.
These kind of movies just comic for me and nor impressive.

No mention so far has been made of Edward g Robinsons "First Yank Over Tokyo". Listed by Harry and Micheal Medved as the worst war movie of all time.

And what about "Hellcats of the Navy", with Ron AND Nancey Reagan on the same bill?

For Heroic epics that stink, John Wayne in "The Sands of Iwo Jima" must rate as one of the corniest propaganda pieces of all time. Also, Wayne's tawdry Vietnam epic "The Green Beret's" must rank as possibly his worst film, among a whole crop of bad films that John Marion was associated with. He made more bad films than good ones. (sorry Carl!)

And while on the subject of corny, "The Sound of Music" was a wartime drama.

I have mentioned Lee Marvin's "Hell in the Pacific" before, but it was so awful it deserves mention again on that basis. One poster here liked this film enormously and had virtual eggs thrown at him for it. Mr Marvin spends the majority of this film bawling and screaming at the surrounding island scenary, at the wildlife, and at his Japanese co-star. The conclusion is a classic writers block solution to a storyline going nowhere..."Let's just blow everyone up!"

I usually let people to their own opinions; however, in this case I will take exception.

Sands of Iwo Jima was great, albeit simple, movie.
Hell in the Pacific: You need to watch it again, because you missed the point.

    - I don't think its just propaganda...Hollywood has for years, perhaps always made movies first and foremost for the American public. No real need for propaganda anymore about WW2, but Americans don't want to see other americans die, miss their shot or worse, lose a battle...thats just common sense (don't alienate the public), at the end of the day the movie makers want the public to like their film so they'l go see it...thus making them (or their publishing company alot of money).

My vote for worst? Anything with Dirk Bogarde in it. ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.....

I agree. Shoup was a technical advisor and said when they were filming the Tarawa scenes he became uncomfortable because it was so close to how he remembered it. They also did a very good job of interweaving real combat footage with new footage.

So what if they didn't know that there were human butchering camps, Jews were treated like dogs in the 30's just as well and everyone knew it. He was showing off the fact that the tables had turned and now he was on top. Not a bullshit scene IMHO.
Pearl Harbour was a pretty bad WW2 movie.

Yono i dont think so that german army knew about jews genocide.
Even some ss troops didnt know about it
We all know that what happend in the 30's.
But this scene is still bullshit for me.
    Sorry. Its my perspective.

Turkishwolf/Yono you may wish to check out the thread "Worst WarCrimes of WWII". We had a long and interesting debate on what was known or suspected by all parties.
