So basically, those who "joined" in 1969 are ghost members who have not posted since the transfer to the new provider? Can't they just be discharged for desertion after a certain while?

Why not send them to the firing squad?

Must I inform you all that New England is the original heart of The United States of America?

I used to purge inactive members and those with zero posts, until I realized that some members do actually make a return after very long periods. I can think of a couple members who have over four years between posts! Besides, length of service effects a members reputation power, and deleting profiles makes people start from zero.

ok thanks for these precisions Otto, is reputation affected by a long term lack of posting too or is it just the other way?

Skipper, it effects reputation power, not reputation itself. You can only earn reputation by receiving it from others, but your ability to award reputation points is based on a combination of your length of service and amount of posts.

This glitch has been a pet peve of mine ever since the switch to the new software was made. A member might be listed at having joined in 2003, posted last in 2005 and had their last activity in 1969! It's like a bad episode of Doctor Who! I am however slowly correcting the problem a few members at a time, each time I log in I correct a couple members, giving them a last activity time that matches their last post. All told, we have some 1,550 members that have actually posted, and just over 1,000 of them have proper last activty dates. Half of those I fixed myself, and the other half fixed the problem themselves when they came and visited, thus creating a proper last visited entry. At my current rate, I'll have completely eradicated the 1969 glitch in about a year or so. Yes, I'm that anal-retentive!

Bah. Politics aside, New England is just a dandy place :D. We all know that southerners just can't handle cold temperatures :p.

I believe it was Gunnery Sgt. Hartman (R.Lee Ermy) in Full Metal Jacket who made that quote famous.
