Thank you CvM--thats appreciated but not necessary. Ill post a question but recant it if Kai decides differently.

How many Heer Generals became Knights Cross Recipients while serving as a Generalmajor, OR a Generalleutnant OR a General der Gebirgetruppe? A couple of them even became Fieldmarshalls.

All I need is a total number of Generals who got their RKs as a General in the Gebirgsjagers. No names needed unless you want to name them. IF this gets answered or not--ill gladly list them. [IMG]

Hint: --there are only a handful more of these than the number of condemned men at Nuremberg as listed above. :D

And sorry guys for the delay. Just back from the annual Waffen-SS meeting!

Ok, so the correct answer to my knowledge is 11 ( in the court ) so it´s over to you Carl "over 7,000" Evans!

Great try Ryan--but no Cigar. You are VERY close though--and no Waffen SS Gebirgejager RKTs are in the total--just Army Gebirgejagers.

Thank you Der Linkmeister Kai--the question above still stands. Ill give it one more day to see if we have a winner and if not--ill post an easier one.

Whats good about the answer I want--is that anyone can get it even with just a wild guess--and when answer is confirmed--ill give all other details to those with inquiring minds wanting to know. [IMG]

A tough one :D There were 16 Generals who got their RKs as a General in the Gebirgsjager.

They were: (Rank at the time they get their RKs)

    Generalmajor:

    Karl Eglseer.
    Ludwig Kubler.
    Max-Josef Pemsel.
    Julius "Papa" Ringel.
    Ferdinand Schorner.

    Generalleutnant:

    Hans Degen.
    Eduard Dietl.
    Hermann Holter.
    Paul Klatt.
    Hans Kreysing.
    Hubert Lanz.
    Friedrich Sixt.

    General der Gebirgstruppe:

    Valentin Fuerstein.
    Ferdinand Jodl.
    Rudolf Konrad.
    Karl Suirre von Le.

    New Question?

What date did Generalleutnant Heinz Ziegler get his Knights Cross? Also, what Panzer Army was he acting commander of--at that time.

I don't usually have a 'go' at these questions but the old quiz seems to be dragging a bit.

This is probably the wrong 'Ziegler' but was it 5/9/44 as acting commander of II SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Division 'Nordland' ?

    GREAT GUESS STEVIN--your turn! :D

Martin--you could have used your ek2 in getting the answer, by sounting the "ribs" along the cross till you got to 64. [IMG] [IMG]
