Again correct, but the question is: Why did the Graf Spee see the mast of the Exeter 44 min in advance of vice versa?

Actually it was the smoke that Langsdorff started to investigate in hope of more cargo ships to sink.

The answer: The smoke from the British ships...

Just a guess...it was easier for the Graf Spee to detect the British ships against the rising sun ???

    Well, the answer is:

The lookout of the Exeter was asleep! [IMG]

I turn it over to Kai, for the research.

    Sonderverband 288

Sonderverband 288 were one of the lesser known units of the Afrika Korps and were intended to operate in the same way as the British Long Range Desert Group (LRDG).

Although you have moved on, it is because the Germans ran their ship's clocks on Berlin time and the British on Greenwich mean time. Berlin is an hour ahead. The difference from there is a matter of whose watch / clock / chronometer was used and how much each was off from actual time.

The engagement took place in the morning, not in the middle of the night.

    Huh????

Her turrets were named exactly the same way as on all other German warships - alphabetically Anton, Bruno, Cäsar, Dora.

    Thx, next question:

A nazi book for children proved to be one of the most effective and disgusting anti-Jewish propaganda tools. What was its name?

Erich: Yes, usually the German alphabetical synonym is Berta... dunno why they said Bruno!
