It's interesting to see both German and Polish placename spellings. I have some relics of a Lancaster which went to Stettin on 5th January 1944.

The relics are parts of the aircraft dug up from the crash site.

OK - next question ; an easy one !

Who were the ' two brooms ' ?

A clue ; one famously remarked to the other in a moment of great tension :

'Just fly West with a dash of North until I sort myself out...' [IMG]

Those words seem vaguely familiar !

'Tommy' is still with us and made a brief appearance at last weekend's Mosquito reunion.

Well done, Stevin - over to you..... [IMG]

What caused the delay of the US forces who were to participate in the Battle for the Rhineland? The British forces launched the attack, soon to be followed by the US forces. But it took a while before the Americans could pitch in. Why?

in a wider context...perhaps. But the battle for the Rhineland opened way after the Ardennes offensive was long petered out.

Sorry, I am looking for another answer.
