Hey guys, A thread started by Martin Bull in this very forum inspired me to do a little research project. See the thread here: http://www.ww2forums.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=000172 I've embarked on a little pet project to collect and post the links to as many WWII related magazines as I can. So far I've got these: After the Battle Armourer Magazine Command FlyPast Militaria Magazine Militaria International Magazine - doesn't seem to be active World War II Anyone care to add any? [ 13. This is a good idea, Peppy. I'll enrage C.Evans here by nominating France's ' Armes & Militaria ' magazine ( the pictures alone are worth the asking price ) : - http://www.militariamag.com
Peppy : yes After the Battle has some great features and so does the UK mag, Fly Past, as I really enjoy those archaeological digs. Wow, history being brought back to life ! Martin: didn't the French mag have a couple of pretty decent articles on the W-SS troops in Normandy a year or two ago ? Thought it covered some new materials and colour pics of the 12th SS Hiterjugend ? E
Good point, Erich - 'FlyPast' is one that I have on subscription; essential reading every month ! http://www.flypast.com/ I only buy 'Armes & Militaria' occasionally - they have had some excellent articles on weapons and equipment over the years and most back issues can still be bought.
Being a bit of a franco-phile, I get 'Militaria' magazine every month; I've been buying it since it first came out. Even now, it carrys an unparalleled amount of information on WW1 and WW2 militaria, recently also going into post-WW2 conflicts as well. Last year they did an excellent special issue on 9th Panzer Division in Normandy. I'm lucky that I can speak and read French, but it really is worth buying just for the photos. They have a large back catalogue available, and I think the index for it is on line now?
About 15 years ago, I used to buy a magazine called Combat Mission, excellent mag....haven't been able to find it since about 1990. My vote goes for World War II magazine
Kampfgruppe-Root, Panzerknacker, this is more of a collection of links, and less of a vote for the best mags , but your input is appreciated just the same.
Anyone get: Militaria International? its a very welldone magazine. Although I found a mistake in a previous issue. It had to do with the Flandern Cross. PS--I have two full-sized Flandern Crosses and one came with a mine Flandern Cross with mini ribbon. [ 14. June 2003, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: C.Evans ]
...also posted in the free fire zone under more links posted just yesterday. But thank you Martin--I didnt have ta list it again
Carl : Is this a Militaria collecting magazine ? I do think it would be great if we had all these magazine links placed in a special spot maybe on a seperate page for all forum members to view. Maybe list the contents in brief form of each ? thoughts E
I just remembered - the good old 'Armourer' magazine. Not in the same league as 'ATB' or 'A&M', but a nice magazine for re-enactors & weapons collectors - main emphasis is on WWI/ WWII : - http://www.armourer.co.uk/
Hello Erich: No sir--its Militaria International magazine. Barnes and Nobles gets it in. ill try to afford to get you a copy and send you one--after I finish moving. BTW--I got about 2/10ths of my junk (stuff) moved as of today
I started reading military advisor. At first sight I like it. But more reading is required for a gopod opinion.
Volkbert : I have the first 5 years of issues but I cancelled my subscription with Roger as I had to start limiting my funds and of course trying to find a place for all those mags......it is an excellent collecting magazine and it does not necessarily specify which country like it used to which was the Third Reich. E
Good bump Otto! I got your email about this, *obviously*. I upadated this with the most recent magazines. Anyone else have anything to add?
