We have a lot of new people about who may not know about our list of smilies, since it is not readily visible at present. Smilie List - World War II Forums There is also the old Web Gallery WWIIF Web Gallery - v0.7 Have fun!
I think Jughead ate all those during his last guest stay in the cooler, but I believe the 'slightly miffed' are here about somewhere.
I knew about the "Smile List", but was unaware of the "Old Web Gallery" smilies/frownies. Thanks, Jeff.
Pfff. That's nothing!!! http://www.hanggliding.org/images/smiles/rofl.gif I would post a heap of great ones up - but there is a glitch here in the "insert image" that almost always seems to say "invalid url" for animated gifs. So I will point to some of my threads elsewhere on other forums, - to show a tiny sample of some other forums special smilies. http://www.hanggliding.org/images/smiles/thumbsUp.gif Example: http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16195 In the intervening pause, I will go to another ancient post somewhere (like I did above) that I can edit to show some of the phenominal options that could be added here. Edit - back with some more... A quick emoticon update. I received a request to replace the stock emoticons (aka smilies) with the ones Peppy for us a made a few years back. I think they looks much better than the ones that come stock with XenForo. Here are a few examples on the changes: is now is now is now is now I like Peppys emoticons a lot better that the old ones. Hopefully you do also, and if you don't like them, too bad. Old hands on the site will remember that Peppy collected and created over 750 emoticons, and I'll be restoring them to the site a few at a time. As always, feel free to provide emoticon/smilie suggestions by responding to this thread or emailing them to me if you prefer.
Thanks for letting me know. It could very be an old link to one of these web gallery sites, now serving up badness. Whatever the case, I'll refer you to this thread: Site Virus Warning Procedure
Nice to see we aren't totally ignorant of interweb memes. Some funny items in here: WWIIF Web Gallery - v0.7
Over 100 of the old emoticins repuploaded, about 10% of the previous total. As some have noticed, the web gallery is back online also: WWIIF Web Gallery - v0.7 Thst said, don't expect any emoticon/clip art updates in this regard, at least not for a couple weeks. I'm turning my attention to Patrons right now.
New smilies are being added as I have the time. All of them are from the massive, wide ranging collection that retired forum legend Peppy compiled for us years ago, with a a great many interesting options. Looking at them is a small piece of the history of the site; some are former admins/mods who have retired, some are military related, some are funny, some are wildly inappropriate, there are even a few that depict pets of forum members. Most recently I uploaded a few and mistakenly added the viagra pill (I said they were wide ranging) to what I thought was the wrong section. After some reflection, I've decided it's very reasonable to keep it in the category that it was uploaded to: For a complete list of our ever increasing list of bizarre and inappropriate smilies, check out this link: Smilies | WWII Forums However, you won't need the above link to access the smilies and memorize the codes for each one, they are readily available in the message reply box for easy access.
