BTW Martin, do you know if The Holland Patch has been 'officially' published or is Mr. Haines producing a "deluxe" version ? I think I saw one on Ebay or something with a distinctly professional looking cover.
I hadn't heard of this Stevin - the last I read, plans for a 'full' publication of The Holland Patch had rather been put out of joint by the appearance of the very impressive 'By Land, Sea and Air' book about the South Staffs written by Junier, Smulders and Korsloot.
Ahh, another must-have... It would be a pity if The Holland Patch would be overshadowed by this new publication, as apparently a lot of work, research and effort went into making it. (and as you now, I have a soft spot for these kind of publications.) A lot of new Arnhem publications these last few years. BTW: I was in Nederweert yesterday, interviewing a few ladies about the time the town was front-line for two months. Appears that they both remember that 44 Sqn plane coming down. (I wonder though, as another came down in the vicinity one or two nights later and one ladies story matched that crash a bit better, but who knows). One said she doubted that the Unknown buried in Nederweert is the man we are after....By another coincidence there is a A. Martin buried there, but he is Alexander Martin, of 166 Sqn, who crashed on 31 december 1944... Another A. Martin althogether. Will keep you posted. [ 30.
