I am away from home so it will be a few months before I dust off the tin box of dad's memories. As a beginning to finding more details I just finished reading George Blackburn's book, Guns of Normandy. A very good book but it uncovered more questions than answers. I ordered in his other 2 books because I thought the first was a pretty good read. I guess the real nagging question is. When did the 70th L.A.A. Battery 8th L.A.A. Regiment enter the war. I can not find any documents for enlisting but I assume he would have been in France as he received the France and German Star. I know he was in Holland as we have paper currency and he was discharged in late 1945. Also what is the Canadian MoD. The Brandon Armory might have some specifics but I will need to wait to go there.

Hi, I just noticed your inquiry here. I have not been on here for some time. I just came across a good book which gives daily troop movements of these soldiers in Normandy. It is called Fields of Fire, Second Edition, The Canadians in Normandy, by Terry Copp. 2014.University of Toronto Press. Very detailed, with maps. Highly recommended.
